I am a perfectionist; but I am your perfectionist.  I want your photo shoot to be a dream come true.

Hard at work...well, maybe not that hard.

I have had an obsession with natural beauty since I was quite young.  As a child I read about far away adventures in beautiful lands.  As an adult, I often take those adventures myself.

After spending a weeklong vacation backpacking in Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) at age 16, I decided to move to Colorado.  A year later when I graduated high school in Iowa City, Iowa, I packed everything I owned into 2 backpacks and a guitar case, hopped a plane to Denver and took a cab an hour north to Fort Collins.  I spent the summer working at Sky Ranch, a church camp just north of RMNP.  In the fall I attended Colorado State University, where I would later graduate with a degree in Forestry, concentrating my studies in Wildland Fire Science.

Ever since I moved to Colorado, my weeks have revolved around figuring out ways to go play outside.  I always brought my grandma's old 35mm film camera.  I love the pictures it took, but never gave a second thought to photography as a profession.  Two years after graduating from CSU, and four years in to my wildland fire career, I realized that working outside wasn't as fun as playing outside.  Looking through the classified ads in the newspaper (remember those?) I came across an ad for a sales position at the local Jeep dealership.  It came with a guaranteed salary to start and seemed like it might be fun.  I had already acquired my first Jeep and really liked it...so I became a car salesman.  Not what my parents had envisioned for me, but I really truly enjoyed it, and still do today.

Traveling to Europe with my family in 2014, I borrowed a good friend's Canon  DSLR camera.  Big mistake.  The first time I heard the shutter operate and saw the quality of the image, I was irretrievably hooked.  Since then I have shot upwards of 30,000 photos a year honing my craft.  I am in debt to my friends for letting me practice portrait photography on them for hours when I didn't yet know what I was doing, and to my ex wife, Lauren, for her encouragement and support while I developed my business.

To all my past and future clients, thank you for choosing me to capture your most cherished moments.  Thank you for allowing me to make a living doing something that brings me epic joy!
